Welcome to the southern campus of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (formerly, Universität Karlsruhe)
Since October 01, 2009, Universität Karlsruhe has merged with the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe into the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The KIT homepage can be found at www.kit.edu. The internet pages of the former University will remain here for a certain period until all pages will have been moved to the new address. However, many pages will no longer be updated.
Science on Tramcars
With the aid of the KVV, the Institute for Meteorology and Climate Research investigates immission in Karlsruhe and environment.
On a tramcar, provided by the KVV, scientists installed a gauging station. This tramcar is used on two tramways, therefore the gauging includes data about city – environment-effects in the pollution as well as its significant springs.

The cooperation’s goal is to establish a mostly automatised long term study about air quality in Karlsruhe as example of a town in Baden-Württemberg. The data is also a good base for the validation of numeric simulation models.
