University government
The Universität Karlsruhe is governed by an Office of the President. At the moment, members are the President, three Vice-Presidents, and two two directors from the executive office of the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe. The President represents the University, he is the head of the Office of the President as well as of the Senate and its committees. The President is elected by the University Council after a public advertising. The supposal of election needs to be accepted by the Ministry of Science, the election has to be acknowledged by the Senate.

The Vice-Presidents are elected by the Senate. Their election needs to be accepted by the University Council. They have certain responsibilities within the Office of the President.

The University Council elected Prof. Dr. Horst Hippler for President on March, 2008, for another six years, the Senate accepted the election.
