Nationwide, the Universität Karlsruhe ist the best university as far as the courses Computer Sciences, Mechanical Engineering and Business Engineering are concerned. This is the result of a current university ranking, the journal for jobs and economics called "karriere" has presented. Thus, in three out of four technical subjects the Universität Karlsruhe heads the ranking by far, only in Electrical Engineering the RWTH Aachen reaches the top position, whereas the Universität Karlsruhe finishes in fifth place. In publishing the ranking, the journal follows the aim of naming the universities, which most efficiently prepare the students for professional life.
Furthermore, in the current ranking of the weekly newspaper WirtschaftsWoche the Universität Karlsruhe is first in Business Engineering - ahead of well-known rivals like the RWTH Aachen or the TU München. The Fridericiana is runner-up in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. The ranking is based on a poll among more than 1000 Chief Staff and Recruiting Officers in germany's biggest companies.
The Universität Karlsruhe also attracts highly qualified scientists from foreign countries. This ist verified by the latest Humboldt-Ranking. Between 2001 and 2005, 78 foundationers and prizewinners from the Alexander von Humboldt foundation came to the Fridericiana. Thus, the University holds number nine in Germany according to the stays per 100 professorship.
In the latest ranking published by the Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung (CHE), the Universität Karlsruhe appears among the best in Computer Sciences in four out of five categories: the reputation among professors, the money for research, the IT infrastructure und the overall study situation. In Physics and in Chemistry, the Fridericiana ranks top positions in two out of five categories: in both subjects as far as scientific publications are concerned, in addition, in Physics with regard to the overall study situation and in Chemistry with regard to the money for research. The CHE presents further current rankings with results for subjects offered by the Universität Karlsruhe: Geosciences, Mathematics, Biology und the tacher certification program in Geography. The ranking, that is based on data ascertainments as well as inquiries of professors and students, is also part of the ZEIT Studienführer 2006/07.
