Department of Humanities and Social Sciences
International und intercultural |
Those who study Humanities and Social Sciences in Karlsruhe (at a pilot project of the state of Baden-Württemberg) can enjoy a combination of a classic curriculum and professional training that features a strong practical orientation. One example of this is the departmental program known as a professionally-oriented additional qualification ("Berufsorientierte Zusatzqualifikationen" [BOZ]).
The Karlsruhe students of humanities and social sciences are thoroughly prepared to meet the demands of our information and knowledge society. The introduction of the new Bachelor's and Master's degrees has made the program's structure clearer, and it allows students to estimate how long they will study. Interdisciplinary work is an integral part of every degree program. There are also some tightly-knit collaborative efforts with some of the departments of engineering and natural sciences.
Furthermore, the program teaches application-oriented competence in the field of media and communications (such as multimedia). The department encourages and supports intercultural issues in teaching and research – especially in the framework of international cooperative efforts.
